SPORTS IN PAKISTAN

The most popular sports in Pakistan are cricket, hockey, squash and polo but now-a-days Pakistan is also focusing on other games too like football, boxing and snooker. Traditional sports like kabaddi and some other also played in Pakistan. The board of Pakistan sports was created in 1962 by the Ministry of Education as a corporate body for the purpose of promoting and developing a standard in sports of Pakistan.
The Ministry of culture, sports and tourism now has control over the board of sports in Pakistan. The PSB controls almost 39 sports in the under of their federation. The sport board of Pakistan is supported by the Pakistan sport trust, which assists hard up players and associations so they can continue participating in sports.
The Higher Education Commission (H.E.C) has played a major role in sports, it has decided to establish a state of the Art sports University in Islamabd.
The sports University will be established with collaboration of Pakistan sports board (P.S.B) and inter provincial coordination (I.P.C) at Islamabad sports complex.
Bothe institutions have come together to promote sports in the country and give a fair chance to everyone and this institute will be the first of its kind in the country. Moreover, the purpose is simple to train the body as well as the brain.
Over recent years there has been an increase in sporting activity in Pakistan, with Pakistani sportsmen and women participating at many national and international tournaments now take place in Pakistan. The size of the teams Pakistan sends, and the number of events they participate in, such as the Olympics games, Asian games, World games, and common wealth games, has increased since the turn of the century.
Now-a-days Ministry of sports is promoting sports in schools, collages and in Universities. Local government is playing main role in villages and in local areas but on the other hand Pakistan don't have proper equipments for some sports in world tournaments like snooker.
Pakistan is also promoting the women's sports on the national level and some how also on international levels.
